Amanda’s Marathon
Yep, she did it! A full marathon; 26.2 miles and with pretty good time, too. Official results aren’t available, but she thinks it’s about 4:40. We had no doubt she could do it, but she missed her last long run a couple weeks back because of a friend’s wedding and then she was sick with a bad cold last week. She pulled it off. Here’s the story in quotes and pics…

THERE WAS NO PARKING! I walked from the green dot to the red and back again… 22 blocks each way and then some.
Jarrod and I attempting to find each other…
This is cool. Jarrod was tracking her with his phone, or is it her phone? Wait, she had her phone and he was tracking her phone on his phone.

Approaching the Finish… Mandie is the badass here because the other runners in this photo ran (or walked) the half-marathon. She lapped them.
Mandie: Is it possible I went off the course?
Me and Jarrod: Why?
Mandie: Because I was at mile 12 and then all of a sudden I was at mile 17.
Jarrod: Do you remember running by yourself?
Mandie: No.
Me: You were zoning out. You were in the runner’s high.
Jarrod: Is that it, Mandie? Did you get the runner’s high?
And then…
Their shuttle was on the way to my car so we walked together. Once we got to the line I stood waiting with them until the bus arrived to take them back to their hotel.
Mandie to me: I’m not doing this again next year!
Me: Okay, you don’t have to…and to myself…that’s what they all say…
As I walked away…
Mandie to Jarrod: Please take me home and put me to bed.
