A Big Day Indeed
So, it really did happen. By now everyone reading this knows that a short piece I wrote was published on the Elephant Journal’s website. This was monumentally exciting for me. It all happened in less than two weeks. I wrote the article the day before I sent it off. I spent the evening revising it, then emailed it to one person; my son. I trust his judgment completely. If it’s crap, he will tell me. Also, it was a very personal story that only those closest to me knew about and I was a little unsure. I knew he would tell me the truth. He emailed back and said, “Go for it!”
I have so appreciated all the wonderful words and comments that I received today. So many thoughtful and touching sentiments have overwhelmed me, and I am so very thankful to all my friends and family for your support. Soliciting myself was tongue in cheek. I had many people offer words of encouragement regarding the modeling. While it would be great to have more work come my way, the absolute real and true thrill for me was about writing something that someone else thought was good enough to share with the masses. That is the ultimate compliment paid to a person who simply likes to write, and is never quite sure what is or isn’t good. I wanted to tell that story with a bit of humor, while also conveying how difficult that time was for me. And ultimately, overcoming, moving forward, and being myself.
If you haven’t seen it yet (unlikely), here it is:
You are stunning and inspirational! Thank you for all that you are and for sharing..
Thank you for those very kind words, Charlotte.
Congrats! So proud of you! it is hard to make something so personal public, and you did it with aplomb!
Thank you, Alison! 😉
I came across your online article “Confessions…” today while looking up a colleague of mine named Jodee who works in Windsor. It appears your article popped up somehow as I was doing a search her, and the title caught my eye and so I opened it. I found there a wonderfully written article from a woman who is talking about the modeling world and discussing the various measures of beauty that pertain to it, and yet in doing so is also simultaneously expressing a dimension of beauty that certainly no camera has the capacity to record. How much more lovely you began to appear than even your compelling photo might suggest. And then this amazing discovery….this woman lives in my home town of Healdsburg. Incredible, I had to chuckle. And so I thought I’d write to you (from one writer to another) and say well done, and thank you for demonstrating that even exquisite physical beauty such as you obviously appear to be blessed with, can pale in comparison to the incredible depth of inner beauty you obviously possess within.
Robert,
Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful note. I have been overwhelmed by the wonderful and kind words that have been written to me and yours has left me somewhat speechless…
Your story is inspiring. And, yes, you are gorgeous! Keep the blog posts coming, please.
Thank you! I appreciate that you read my blog. 🙂
